The applied sciences as a means of moral uplift of man

Abstract:
Many people today are speaking against the applied sciences, as sciences leading mankind to destruction. However, when, after the middle ages, these sciences advanced spectacularly, the cosciences had much hope in their beneficial possibilities for the human society. Today the applied sciences appear as a weapon, whose good or bad use depends on the good or bad intention of men. We should not, therefore, speak against these sciences, since the evil does not come from them but from the human behavior. The applied sciences, on the contrary, offer all the possibilities for the moral uplift of man, through the technology which they nurish with their achievements, and for a better material future for mankind. We, however, cannot reach this better material future, if we do not rely on the possibility of the taming not only of the material nature but also of the nature of man.
