Pamela Burnard (BMus, MMus, MEd, PhD) is a Senior Lecturer at the University ofCambridge, UK where she manages Higher Degree courses in Arts, Culture andEducation, Educational Research, and Musical Creativity. She is Co-Editor of the BritishJournal of Music Education, Associate Editor of Psychology of Music and serves onnumerous editorial boards. She is section editor of the ‘Creativity' section in theInternational Handbook of Research in Arts Education (Springer, 2007), the ‘MusicalCreativity as Practice’ section of the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of MusicEducation (OUP, 2010). She has co-edited several books including Reflective Practicein Arts Education (Springer, 2009/2006), Creative Learning 3-11 (Trentham, 2007) andTeaching Music with Digital Technologies (Continuum, 2009/2007). Her researchinterests and most recent funded projects include ‘Children’s Improvisation andComposition’ (CIC) , ‘Artists’ Pedagogy and School Change’ (APaSC), ‘Progression inCreative Learning’ (PiCL), ‘Creativity and Assessment Practices in the Arts’ (CAPA) and‘The Practice and Value of Creative Arts Assessment’, a cross-cultural comparison ofUK, Hong Kong and Australian assessment practices. She is convener of BritishEducation Research Association (BERA) Special Interest Group Creativity in Educationand has served on the Board of Directors for ISME (2004-2008).
