Excavation at the prehistoric mound at Arcadico of Drama

In 1992 the excavation was expanded in the horizontal dimension; the unification of the archaeological trenches provided a better understanding of the buildings of the settlement: This parer is referring to an understanding of a construction on posts (4x9m.) and the organization of its rooms, which is revealed by the following. a) the presence or absence of post holes b) criteria such as the size of the post holes and the distance between them. c) the existence of structures d) the attribution of the small finds to the space e) the evidence from the agricultural products and archaeological data f) evidence from the study and the attribution of the bone artifacts. The analysis of the above evidence reveals the usefulness of the overall study of the movable and architectural finds of an excavation; in the case of Arcadico it can follow two ways: a) its enrichment with the study of the ceramic and b) an excavational process which will not only concentrate on the chronological problem but also on the reconstruction of the organization and use of space, which is missing from the research of Neolithic Macedonia
