Abstract:
Strabo’s information ( C 425 ) that the warm baths of Aidipsos were dedicated to Herakles is attested by the accidental find of a huge marble slab with relief representation of the symbols of the hero, lion skin and bow (fig. 1). The Roman building, in which the relief was found, may be recognized as a temple of Herakles ( cf. AD 20 (1965) : Chronika, p. 256, PI. 315 β ).
