Abstract:
For the first time systematic digging in the near vicinity of the modern village of Tanagra in Boeotia has brought to light quite interesting finds of the last Mycenaean period (IILB - IIIC 1). Three chamber tombs (plan 1; figs. 1-8) excavated, which have yielded several whole vases of the IHB - IIIC1 period, some beads of glass - paste, steatite but tons, and one engraved steatite gem. In one of the tombs a larnax was unearthed containing a single burial. This last was accompanied by a deep-bowl lying upon the breast (fig. 3).The major part of painted larnax was found in another, partly plundered, chamber tomb.A thorough study of the material will be published soon.
